King Charles has officially communicated to senior British officials affirming that Prince Harry, along with Meghan, are considered non-working members of the royal family upon their return to the U.K. The directive, which was shared with Harry’s team and distributed to senior government and military personnel, emphasized that after stepping back from official royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan are no longer active members of the royal family.
The communication clarified that their status is distinct from the state and royal responsibilities carried out by the working royal family. This distinction affords the couple personal freedom in terms of financial independence and privacy protection, aligning with their preferences. King Charles assured that their position would be fully respected.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s current status remains unchanged, as they are not engaged in official royal duties. Their charitable endeavors are considered personal matters undertaken in their private capacity, resembling activities of private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.
Recently, Prince Harry and his family returned to Britain after a six-year absence, having departed for the United States in 2020 to pursue independent careers. Despite their move, they continued to attract media attention, with Harry publicly expressing grievances against the royal family, tabloid press, and government regarding security concerns and personal treatment.
