Warwick Davis’ family issue emotional statement ahead of inquest into wife Samantha’s death

Must read

The bereaved family of Samantha Davis, the late wife of esteemed actor Warwick Davis, are yearning for closure as they prepare for an inquest into her tragic passing. Samantha sadly left the world at the age of 53 at University College Hospital in London on 24 March last year.

Warwick Davis, famed for his performances in Star Wars and Harry Potter sagas, poignantly honoured Samantha with his Bafta film fellowship accolade during a heartfelt homage this past February.

The official inquest is scheduled to take place at Inner West London Coroner’s Court on April 14.

In an emotional statement conveyed via their representatives from Irwin Mitchell ahead of the inquest, Samantha Davis’ family spoke of enduring an “incredibly difficult time”.

They continued: “We know that the resilience and strength Sammy instilled in all of us will guide us through this difficult next chapter.

“Her love, support, and determination is a legacy we want to continue. ‘Sammy’s Helping Hands fund’, which was set up in her honour, has already had a huge impact on young people in the dwarfism community, and will continue to support families all over the UK moving forwards.

“The last year and trying to come to terms with Samantha’s death has been incredibly difficult. However, we hope that the inquest will at last provide us with answers.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kindness and well wishes to us all.”

A star from a young age, Warwick Davis charmed audiences as an Ewok in the acclaimed film Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi at just 11 years old.

The couple’s love story began on the set of the 1988 fantasy film Willow, where he played the heroic Willow Ufgood, a role he reprised in a 2022 Disney+ series. They tied the knot in 1991 and later established Little People UK in 2012 to support individuals with dwarfism and their families.

The duo also shared screen time in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2, with Samantha portraying a goblin. Davis is known for his roles as Professor Flitwick in all eight Harry Potter films and the Gringotts Wizarding Bank goblin Griphook.

The couple are proud parents to two children.
