Moise Bombito revealed that a discussion with Canadian national team coach Jesse Marsch influenced his decision. Despite his physical challenges, the 26-year-old defender was determined not to miss the FIFA World Cup held in his home country. His club, Nice, disclosed that Bombito will undergo surgery on his left tibia due to chronic pain detected during a leg scan.
In an interview with Nice, Bombito shared his commitment to represent his country at the World Cup despite his leg issues. He acknowledged his readiness to contribute while acknowledging his physical limitations. Following an initial tibia fracture in October, Bombito returned to play for Canada during the summer, participating in three matches, including a full 90-minute game against South Africa.
Despite enduring discomfort, Bombito pushed through the matches, aiming to support his team. He expressed disappointment at the necessity of surgery but emphasized his determination to recover fully for future games. Bombito highlighted the persistent pain affecting his daily activities and his eagerness to overcome it to resume playing at his peak performance level.
Having joined Nice in 2024 after his tenure with the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer, Bombito played 35 games in his debut season with the French club. However, he faced setbacks in the following season due to injuries, limiting his appearances on the field.
