The Montreal Victoire’s Walter Cup trophy, which went missing during shipping, has been located and returned to the team, according to an announcement from the Professional Women’s Hockey League on Monday. The league expressed gratitude to all involved in finding the trophy and to fans for their support.

Last week, the trophy was supposed to arrive in Lethbridge, Alberta, for a celebration with Victoire forward Dara Greig but failed to do so. The PWHL container that arrived did not contain the trophy as expected, leading to a brief setback. The league humorously commented on the situation, noting that even the Walter Cup can have its own off-season adventure.

Details about where and how the trophy was found remain undisclosed, with the PWHL simply stating that it was lost in shipment. Notably, the missing trophy is a replica of the original sterling silver Tiffany & Co.-designed Walter Cup, known as the team’s “keeper” cup. This replica weighs approximately 16 kilograms and stands at about 61 centimeters tall.

Montreal secured the cup by defeating Ottawa in a best-of-five series in May, marking their victory as the PWHL’s first Canadian championship. The cup is named after PWHL founder and financier Mark Walter, along with his wife, Kimbra. Walter, who owns the Los Angeles Dodgers, recently made headlines for his decision to sell his controlling stake in the Los Angeles Lakers.
