Lightspeed Commerce Inc. has announced that 250 positions will be affected by staff layoffs and the decision not to fill certain job vacancies. The Montreal-based software company stated that these actions are aimed at streamlining its operations to enable reinvestment in customer growth and product innovations.
Stephanie Princivil, a spokesperson for Lightspeed, declined to specify which areas within the company would be impacted by the layoffs and vacancy eliminations. However, she mentioned that further details would be provided during the upcoming quarterly earnings report.
Lightspeed has undergone multiple rounds of workforce reductions in recent years following Dax Dasilva’s return to the role of founder and chief executive. Additionally, the company conducted a strategic review to enhance shareholder value, ultimately focusing on strengthening its North American retail and European hospitality divisions while divesting Upserve, a subsidiary offering restaurant management solutions.
