Mirror’s Daily Digest: Our top stories from devastating blaze to Prince Harry’s dramatic day in court

Must read

Welcome to the Mirror’s Daily Digest, where we’ll be pulling together all the best stories of the day from our News, Showbiz, Sport teams and more. This Thursday we’re featuring everything from the desperate screams heard in a terrifying house blaze to renewed royal drama in court.

Our Showbiz team lifts the lid on the time former glamour model Katie Price was left highly embarrassed on stage during a panto performance – with her entire family were watching. Meanwhile, our Politics team neatly condenses the 11 unhinged things Donald Trump did in the last 24 hours as he makes the single biggest U-turn in history.

Terrified eye witnesses have been describing how they heard people screaming “help help” as flames raged through an east London flat block in the early hours of this morning. The sky above Bethnal Green’s Bradbeer House was filled with thick, black smoke after the fire took hold just before midnight last night.

Horrified bystanders watched as the bright orange flames lit up the night sky and acrid smoke billowed into the air. Sayful Islam, 35, who lives opposite the building, said he was stunned by the “sheer ferocity” of the fire. He went from door to door to wake his neighbours to alert them to the blaze. Sayful, a data scientist, lives in the block opposite – just five metres away.

This Thursday, Katie Price has opened up about her mortifying pantomime blunder which left her ‘so p***ed off’. The former glamour model, 46, is set to hit the stage with 90s TV icon Bobby Davro next week and she will take to the stage for two performances of the pantomime Pinocchio on April 14 at The Elgiva Theatre in Chesham.

On the latest episode of her podcast, The Katie Price Show, the mum-of-five delved into her panto horror story alongside her younger sister Sophie – and a very special guest – her son Harvey, 22. The TV star explained that she has had the busiest week of her life rehearsing for the upcoming pantomime shows, but added that it hasn’t all gone to plan.

The right-leaning group has announced Petrov Jr will be contesting the seat for Lapworth and West Kenilworth in the upcoming elections.

Reform UK took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to introduce their new candidate. And they’re hoping his presence will help them connect with a younger base.

As Trump continues to shape the world as he sees fit, here we reveal all the wild and terrifying things the Trump administration got up to in the last 24 hours.

As well as pausing tariffs – or perhaps because of it – Donald decided today would be an excellent day to “flood the zone” with nonsense about showers, the 2020 election and revenge

Elsewhere, some are calling it a u-turn. Others say Donald Trump bottled it. Chickened out at the last minute. But if you ask the White House, last night’s surprise announcement of a 90 day pause on some tariffs was always part of the plan.

Finally, Prince Harry showed a dramatic change in demeanour during his surprise return to the UK, for a legal battle where his “life was at stake”. The Duke of Sussex has been in London over the past few days to attend the Court of Appeal hearing into his security arrangements in the UK.

Harry is challenging the dismissal of his High Court legal claim against the Home Office. It comes after a decision by the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) that he should receive a different degree of taxpayer-funded protection when in the UK. On each day of the legal showdown, Harry arrived at the Royal Courts of Justice looking smart in a suit and flanked by security guards as he attended the crucial hearing.

On the second day of the hearing, Harry had to be dramatically hurried out of court following an outburst by a supporter.
