Viewers of Celebrity Big Brother were left gasping at Mickey Rourke’s entrance on Monday evening. As the latest edition of the ITV reality show welcomed a new batch of famous faces to the iconic house, the 72-year-old Hollywood star was last to take on the walkway.
However, his lengthy entrance soon became awkward after the star of The Wrestler seemed to set his eyes on host AJ Odudu. Following his long stroll to the stage, Mickey grabbed the host and seemed to stare at her intensely.
His antics were blasted as “creepy” by viewers who watched on as AJ was forced to tell the actor to “stop looking at me”.
Among those hitting out at Mickey’s behaviour was comic Alan Carr. Talking to AJ on the spin-off show, Late and Live, Alan said: “Can we talk about Mickey Rourke looking at you? Wow his eyes.
“Find someone who looks at you the way Mickey looks at you [AJ]. His tongue was hanging out.”
Alan was quickly met with a joke by AJ, who said: “It literally was. I was like ‘You can’t afford these feathers Mickey, no!”
Despite AJ making light of the situation, viewers at home weren’t impressed with the veteran star’s behaviour. Taking to Twitter/X to share their thoughts, one user wrote: “Scared for all the women in that house now with how Mickey was with AJ on live television mind you.”
Another fumed: “I put money on Mickey Rourke getting kicked out within the next few days. How he treated AJ was totally unacceptable.” A third said: “I feel bad for AJ with the way Mickey Rourke kept pulling out her.”
And on her Instagram post regarding the launch, another user wrote: “You look incredible AJ! I’m so sorry Mickey disrespected you like that, you handled it incredibly well, I hope you’re okay!” Should Mickey Rourke be kicked out of CBB? Vote in our poll HERE to have your say.
However, other’s appeared to think Mickey would be a good housemate, with one user writing: “Mickey Rourke is the Jackie Stallone of Celebrity Big Brother. What a fantastic signing.”
He was immediately met by JoJo Siwa on his entrance and dragged into join fellow housemates doing a conga line. They were joined by the likes of Coronation Street star Jack P. Shepherd, talk show queen Trisha Goddard and EastEnders legend Patsy Palmer, who are all taking part on the show this year.
Immediately, the producers unveiled a brand new twist, with three housemates set to be given huge decisions.
Last year’s winner David Potts was on hand to share the information, saying the first three housemates to enter the hidden Prize Room will face a huge decision.
They will have plenty of options available to them, including Immunity. There will also be the option of Guardian Angel (give immunity to someone else) or Killer Nomination (target a fellow housemate).
Other prizes include a teddy bear, coffee or novelty slippers. There is also one major prize that will grant contact with the outside world.
This year’s instalment had already seen several changes before the show began, including a change in location. The Big Brother house has been moved to a “brand-new secret location”. Big Brother was revived in 2023, with the celeb edition shortly following in 2024.
Celebrity Big Brother continues tonight from 9pm on ITV, ITVX, STV and STV Player. It will be followed by companion show Late & Live on ITV2 and ITVX from 10pm.
