A 22-year-old woman working at a nursery, who subjected 21 infants to severe abuse, became desensitized to her appalling actions, expert warns. Roksana Lecka, a resident of Hounslow, west London, admitted to seven counts of cruelty towards minors and was found guilty of an additional 14 counts by a jury at Kingston Crown Court in June.
Lecka, who migrated to the UK from Poland at a young age, maintained a facade of a caring individual while concealing her dark side. Despite portraying a happy family life on social media and assisting her mother in caring for her younger siblings, including potty training and feeding, her true nature was far from the public eye.
In a TikTok video, Lecka’s mother is seen praising her daughter, even after her crimes were exposed, defending her actions by downplaying the severity of the situation. However, justice caught up with her as she was sentenced to eight years in prison at Kingston Crown Court for multiple child cruelty offenses.
In January 2024, Lecka, lacking any formal qualifications, secured a permanent position at Riverside Nursery by providing three references. Behind her helpful demeanor lurked a different persona, carefully hidden from those around her.
During her trial, disturbing footage was presented to the jurors, showing Lecka physically assaulting children, including kicking a little boy in the face multiple times and pinching, grabbing, and punching infants. Prosecutors highlighted her calculated behavior of monitoring other staff members during these abusive acts.
Lecka’s abusive conduct was eventually exposed when parents and staff members noticed signs of physical harm on the children. She was suspended on June 28, 2024, and Metropolitan Police detectives uncovered incriminating CCTV footage of her abusive actions.
