A 35-year-old woman named Portia Devine from Ely, Cambridgeshire, has successfully lost nearly six stone and reduced her dress size every month by using Mounjaro injections. Struggling with emotional eating and low self-esteem, Portia reached her highest weight of 14st 7lbs (92.1kg) in 2022. Standing at 5ft 1in (154.9cm) tall, she found herself constantly preoccupied with thoughts of food until she started taking Mounjaro, a weight loss injection that helps control hunger by making you feel fuller for longer, in April 2025.
Since incorporating Mounjaro into her routine, Portia has steadily shed weight, dropping a dress size each month and gaining newfound confidence. She now weighs 8st 11lbs (55.8kg) and fits into a size eight, having transitioned from wearing baggy clothes to embracing a more self-assured approach. Despite the monthly cost of £210 for her medication and appointments, Portia has opted to forgo the gym due to financial constraints.
Describing her previous struggle with food as an addiction, Portia expressed how her mindset has shifted since starting Mounjaro. She emphasized that food now serves as fuel rather than a source of reward, marking a significant transformation in her relationship with eating habits. Having battled weight issues since childhood and attributing her highest weight to emotional eating following a breakup, Portia detailed her former diet consisting of calorie-dense meals leading to a sedentary lifestyle and low self-esteem.
After trying various diets and exercise routines without sustained success, Portia decided to explore Mounjaro in April 2025, which promptly alleviated her incessant food-related thoughts. She recounted losing weight consistently since then, with an average weekly loss of 2lbs (0.9kg). Although experiencing occasional nausea as a side effect, she managed it effectively with acupressure bands.
Under medical supervision, Portia continues her weight loss journey by following a balanced diet, prioritizing protein and fiber, while engaging in Pilates classes and daily walks. Looking ahead, she aims to reach her goal weight of 8st 7lb (53.9kg) and gradually taper off Mounjaro with guidance from her pharmacist.
