An underage boy has reported that a female teacher contacted him by phone to arrange a sexual meeting. He also mentioned that during a video call, she appeared naked in the shower with her breast visible.
Krystal Sims, aged 30, is now facing criminal charges and the possibility of up to five years in prison after being accused of contacting the minor who disclosed the incident to authorities.
The substitute teacher from Kentucky has stated that she was planning a meeting with the student for him to apologize for his classroom behavior, emphasizing that she had declined friend requests from other students.
According to the New York Post, a detective from the Barren County Sheriff’s Office received information indicating that Sims had engaged with an underage male juvenile with the intention of meeting for sexual purposes.
The student claimed to have initially met Sims when she was substituting as a teacher and mentioned staying in touch via Snapchat.
Authorities indicated that after their online communication began, plans were made for a physical encounter.
On August 22, the boy recorded a call where a woman can be heard arranging a meeting with him. A subsequent video call was not recorded.
During the follow-up call, it is alleged that Sims was naked in the shower, exposing her chest. Witnesses also confirmed seeing her exposed breast during the call.
Sims admitted to being the person in the recording when questioned by authorities, clarifying that she was organizing a meeting for the boy to apologize, denying any physical involvement.
Following her arrest for unlawfully using electronic communication to solicit a child for sexual activity, Sims posted a $25,000 cash bond and was released from prison. She is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, October 8.
If convicted, Sims could potentially face a prison term of up to five years.
