A man, Brandon Isabelle, has been convicted of murdering his girlfriend and tossing their newborn daughter into a river following a week-long trial. Despite initially denying the charges, Isabelle was found guilty of killing Danielle Hoyle, 27, and their infant, Kennedy Hoyle. The jury recommended a life sentence for Isabelle, with the chance for parole after 51 years.

Prosecutors revealed that Isabelle and Danielle, who both worked at FedEx, were romantically involved, resulting in Danielle’s pregnancy. Simultaneously, Isabelle was dating another colleague at FedEx who sought to end their relationship due to the impending baby.

After Danielle gave birth to Kennedy on January 31, 2022, Isabelle allegedly arranged to meet her under false pretenses, claiming to provide baby clothes. Instead, he took her to a location where he fatally shot her before discarding their infant daughter into the alligator-infested Mississippi River.

The investigation commenced when Danielle’s abandoned vehicle was discovered on February 1, 2022, with signs of a struggle. Her body, with a gunshot wound to the head, was found nearby. Isabelle swiftly emerged as the prime suspect and was apprehended the following day.

During interrogation, Isabelle confessed to luring Danielle, shooting her, and disposing of their daughter in the river. He justified his actions by stating his unwillingness to raise the child. Following the murders, Isabelle was reported to have bought gifts for another girlfriend and discarded Kennedy’s car seat in a Walmart dumpster. Kennedy’s body has not been recovered.

In a separate case, Kristopher Matthews, 40, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the neglectful death of his two-month-old son, Karson. Matthews admitted to never feeding his child, arguing that he had no obligation to do so as the father. Karson’s mother, Shirley Matthews, also received a 20-year sentence for aggravated child abuse.

Prosecutors described the tragic ordeal as one of the most distressing cases they had encountered, emphasizing the avoidable suffering and death of the infant due to neglect by the parents.
