A trainer who only had two horses achieved a significant victory alongside his jockey brother as Oscars Brother triumphed in the Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown.

Competing in the Grade Two race were horses from prominent stables in Ireland, including Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, along with Rocky’s Diamond, who finished fourth in the 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle.

Despite the tough competition, handler Connor King emerged victorious with Oscars Brother, expertly guided by his brother and jockey Daniel around the County Kildare track.

Maintaining a front-running position throughout the race, Oscars Brother, the 7-4 favorite, showcased impeccable jumping skills and surged ahead to cross the finish line three lengths ahead of Koktail Divin from De Bromhead’s yard.

Having prepared for the three-mile event on challenging ground at Galway, Oscars Brother and the team now aspire to elevate their horse to Grade One status, with only one other horse under their training.

Reflecting on the win, Daniel expressed his joy, describing the experience as exceptional to secure a significant victory for his brother. Pleased with Oscars Brother’s progress, he acknowledged the horse’s improving form and credited the training efforts.

Looking ahead, Connor, a former jockey, mentioned the possibility of entering Oscars Brother in the Grade One Faugheen Novices’ Chase at Limerick during the upcoming Christmas period. He highlighted their expectations for Oscars Brother’s transition from hurdles to chasing and hinted at aiming for prestigious races in the future.
