A dental professional confessed to a neighbor his resentment towards his parents for influencing his career choice before tragically ending his mother’s life in their Beverly Hills residence to claim a portion of her substantial $12 million estate.

Daniel Yacobi committed the heinous act by strangling his 67-year-old mother, Violet, in 2017. Following a coroner’s determination of her death as a homicide, he was apprehended four months later. Concern arose on October 10, 2017, when Violet did not respond to a call from her brother, who had offered to help with her car.

The untimely death of Violet, discovered at the base of the grand staircase in her $8 million home, was uncharacteristic, considering she had been mourning the loss of her husband, Solomon, a year earlier.

Initially evading authorities, Daniel posted a message on Facebook on what would have been his mother’s 68th birthday, stating, “I know you and Dad are up there smiling down on us.” However, by February of the following year, he was arrested and subsequently charged with murder.

During the trial, LA County Deputy District Attorney Shane Michael described how Daniel ended Violet’s life and left her in the house where he grew up. Testimony from Dean Summers, a neighbor’s brother, revealed Daniel’s deep depression and resentment towards his parents for pushing him into dentistry.

Family friend Joseph Mamalinger recounted an unsettling conversation with Daniel regarding inheritance tax shortly before Violet’s demise. Investigators also uncovered Daniel’s search history on chokeholds, although his defense claimed Violet’s death resulted from a fall from a balcony.

Daniel Yacobi was convicted of murder on August 22 and received a life sentence without the possibility of parole, nearly eight years after his initial arrest.
