Amazon has unveiled an updated price for its latest Fire TV Stick HD, presenting an opportune moment to explore a new streaming experience. The revamped device boasts enhancements such as a sleeker design, support for Wi-Fi 6 for improved streaming quality, and faster overall performance.
The tech giant states that the new Fire TV Stick HD exceeds 30% in speed compared to prior HD models, resulting in quicker boot-up times and enhanced app functionality.
A notable feature of this device is its ability to draw power directly from the TV’s USB port, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter and facilitating cable management behind the television.
Additionally, the device debuts Amazon’s latest Fire OS software, Vega, which offers a revamped interface, intelligent content suggestions, and a more user-friendly browsing experience.
Amazon expressed, “The new Fire TV Stick HD is our most compact streaming device to date, designed for Direct Power via the TV’s USB port, enabling a more discreet placement behind the TV without requiring an extra power supply.”
Initially priced at £39.99 upon release, the new Fire TV Stick HD is now accessible on Amazon for £25.99, representing a 35% discount.
While the discount is enticing, consumers seeking the best deal can find slightly lower prices at other retailers. Argos and Currys have both reduced the price of the 2024 Fire TV Stick HD to £24.99, undercutting Amazon by £1 and offering a £15 reduction from the original launch price.
The older HD model still provides access to popular streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+, supports Full HD playback, incorporates Alexa voice commands, offers shortcut buttons for quick app access, and allows control of compatible smart home devices such as lights.
