The latest CCTV footage capturing the final moments of Jay Slater before his death will be showcased in an upcoming documentary on Channel 4. The documentary aims to dispel the mystery surrounding his passing and address various social media speculations and assertions.

Jay, a 19-year-old resident of Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, went missing on June 17, 2024. After an extensive search effort, his body was discovered in a secluded area near the village of Masca on July 15.

Following Jay Slater’s disappearance, a surge of online interest led to the emergence of conspiracy theories on social media, sparking a frenzy of speculation spearheaded by internet sleuths focused on true crime. The case garnered global attention, with over 30 million online videos deliberating on Jay’s whereabouts.

The new Channel 4 film features conclusive CCTV footage of Jay, complemented by messages he sent. The footage shows Jay at Papagayo Nightclub at 11:55 pm, departing at 01:04 am, and being denied re-entry at 1:12 am. Subsequently, Jay can be observed exchanging messages with friends, indicating his intentions for the night.

The documentary also includes never-before-seen CCTV recordings, unheard audio, and insights from the Slater family as they seek closure regarding Jay’s fate. It delves into the profound impact of social media scrutiny on police investigations and the emotional toll it takes on grieving families.

The film was granted exclusive access to key events such as Jay’s post-mortem examination, funeral, and inquest. It sheds light on the repercussions of online speculation and its repercussions on those mourning the loss of a loved one.

“The Disappearance of Jay Slater” is scheduled to air on Channel 4 on Sunday, September 28, at 9 pm.
