A large number of applications and services require a monthly payment for their usage, and now it appears WhatsApp may be introducing a similar model. The team at WABetaInfo has discovered that the chat application, owned by Meta, is working on a new version called WhatsApp Plus.
This upgraded version is expected to provide exclusive enhancements and features, including the ability to pin up to 20 chats (up from the current limit of 3), enhanced customization options such as changing the app’s theme, icon, and accent colors.
Users may also receive bonus stickers, access to additional ringtones, and more interactive reactions for chat replies. WABetaInfo mentioned, “WhatsApp is developing a new optional premium subscription plan called ‘WhatsApp Plus’ for the standard consumer app, offering extra features in exchange for a monthly fee. The plan is currently in development for Android and iOS and has not yet been officially released.”
In addition to the initial upgrades, Meta may introduce more features over time for users willing to pay. While WhatsApp has not officially confirmed these reports, test versions of the WhatsApp Plus app have been spotted, indicating ongoing development.
It is important to note that the free version of WhatsApp will remain available, and users will not be obligated to pay for the premium features. This optional subscription aims to provide added value to users who are willing to pay a monthly fee.
More details about WhatsApp Plus are expected to be revealed soon. Stay tuned for updates.
