A woman has been prohibited from entering a UK city after being found guilty of defrauding her partner through deceitful tactics. Yasmin Green, a 34-year-old from Grimsby, confessed to committing fraud by obtaining a £5,000 loan for a non-existent property and fabricating a false land registry document for the imaginary home. She also admitted to assuming a false identity to trick her partner into participating in a house purchase and securing financing for a car in the victim’s name without her consent.

During the trial at Grimsby Crown Court, it was revealed that Green and the victim had been in a relationship for a year after meeting on a 2020 Tinder date. The victim, who believed she was meeting another woman named Danielle, was deceived by Green, who claimed Danielle was running late. Subsequently, the victim’s memory was hazy, and upon waking up the next day, she discovered Green at her residence, claiming she had met Danielle the night before, which the victim could not recollect.

Green went as far as impersonating ‘Danielle’ in communications with the victim, leading to a scheme where the victim was coerced into taking out loans to purchase a flat that did not exist. The victim transferred £5,000 under the guise of becoming a co-owner of the fictitious property. Additionally, Green orchestrated unauthorized car finance in the victim’s name and misused her banking information without consent.

The victim’s financial distress and damaged credit rating, caused by Green’s actions, forced her to take a year off work. In a victim impact statement, she expressed deep mistrust towards Green, stating that the ordeal nearly ruined her life. Green was sentenced by Recorder Nicholas Worsley KC to a suspended two-year prison term, along with mandatory rehabilitation activities and community service.

Furthermore, a lifelong Restraining Order was issued, prohibiting Green from contacting the victim or mentioning her on social media. Additionally, she was banned from entering the city of Hull indefinitely. The court mandated monthly compensation and a surcharge for the financial losses incurred by the victim. Recorder Worsley KC condemned Green’s manipulative and deceitful behavior, emphasizing the lack of empathy displayed towards the victim.
