The Nolans are set to perform together publicly for the first time since the passing of their sister Linda. Sisters Denise, Maureen, and Anne will grace the stage at Simply The Best, a charity concert supporting the Weston Park Cancer Charity, scheduled for October 4 at Sheffield City Hall.
Their performance will feature the song “Tell Me It’s Not True” from the musical Blood Brothers, which holds special significance for the family. Maureen and Denise, along with their late sisters Bernie and Linda, previously appeared in the renowned show in London’s West End, earning them a Guinness World Record.
In addition to The Nolans, the event will include Layton Williams, Dr Ranj, Janette Manrara from Strictly Come Dancing, Hayley Tamaddon, Sam Bailey, Zoe Tyler, and Rustie Lee.
Having faced personal struggles with cancer, as four of their sisters battled the disease in the past, Denise (73), Maureen (71), and Anne (74) are deeply honored to pay tribute to their memory by supporting fundraising efforts. Linda passed away in January from pneumonia after a long battle with incurable breast cancer.
The evening will culminate with a performance of “I’m In The Mood For Dancing,” marking Denise’s first time singing the group’s signature hit, as she had left the act before its release in 1979.
Denise expressed her emotions, stating, “I’ve never sung ‘I’m In The Mood For Dancing’ before, so to finally perform it alongside my sisters for such a meaningful cause feels incredibly special. Cancer has profoundly impacted our family, so using our voices to raise funds for others facing similar struggles means the world to us.”
Anne shared her sentiments, saying, “This will be my premiere rendition of ‘Tell Me It’s Not True,’ making it a very emotional moment for me. Singing it with Denise and Maureen, knowing that Bernie and Linda also performed it, will be a powerful experience for us as sisters.”
Following this event, The Nolans are scheduled to appear at the Talking Pictures Festival of Film & TV Roadshow at the Hebden Bridge Picture House on October 11. Hosted by Sherrie Hewson and Mike Read, the sisters will engage in a special Q&A session reflecting on their remarkable 50-year career.
Maureen reflected on their journey in showbiz, stating, “We’ve had a diverse career in the entertainment industry, and our incredible fans have been there every step of the way. This upcoming event gives us the opportunity to look back and celebrate our story.”
