Nigel Farage’s proposal to revoke indefinite leave to remain has been criticized by Keir Starmer, who believes it could cause significant division in the UK. The Prime Minister strongly condemned Reform UK’s controversial plans, labeling them as one of Nigel Farage’s most alarming ideas. During a discussion with students at the Liverpool Echo office prior to the Labour Party Conference, the Prime Minister expressed concerns about the potential impact on hundreds of thousands of individuals who have long been part of British society, contributing through various means such as working in hospitals, schools, running businesses, and being neighbors. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of unity, tolerance, and respect for diversity in the UK, stating that divisive policies like these could harm the fabric of the country. He passionately conveyed his belief that such actions could jeopardize the core values of British identity.

Addressing students from Lord Derby Academy, The Heath School, and Ellesmere Port Church of England College, the Prime Minister initially discussed the Hillsborough Law recently presented to Parliament. The legislation will establish a new duty of candor, requiring public officials and organizations to act honestly, transparently, and truthfully or face legal consequences.

In response to a question about the legalization of cannabis, Keir Starmer ruled out the possibility, humorously asking the students for their expectations. He then playfully remarked that some students might have raised their hands if not for the cameras present. The Prime Minister reiterated that his government would not pursue legalization in that direction.
