Easter baking is a delightful activity for me, and using Cadbury Mini Eggs is a must. Whether I’m making Easter nests or a cheesecake, Mini Eggs play a significant role in my holiday treats.

Concerned about rising grocery prices, I decided to investigate the number of eggs in each packet. Opting for the popular 74g bag available at Tesco for £2, I wanted to ensure I was getting my money’s worth.

Luckily, the eggs were on sale during my visit, priced at £1.45 per bag, but I still found it a bit expensive.

Curious about the actual egg count in each packet, I purchased six bags of Cadbury treats and counted the contents of each. Surprisingly, despite all bags being 74g, the number of eggs varied.

The first packet contained 22 eggs, costing around 9p per egg at full price, which seemed pricey considering their small size. The second and third packets held 23 eggs each, while the fourth had 22.5 eggs due to one being broken.

Packets five and six also contained 23 eggs each, leading me to question the £2 price tag.

While I enjoy using Cadbury’s Mini Eggs for Easter baking, the high cost of these eggs makes it an expensive endeavor. Chocolate prices have increased recently due to poor harvests and manufacturers’ need to maintain profits.

Some chocolate bars, like Club and Penguin bars, are now labeled as “chocolate-flavored” after reducing cocoa content to offset rising costs.

Thankfully, there are supermarket alternatives available, such as options from Aldi and Lidl. M&S’s Speckled Eggs, priced at £2.75 for a 150g bag, have received positive reviews online and on Ocado.

Despite Cadbury’s Mini Eggs usually being a staple in my kitchen cupboard, I won’t be buying them in the near future due to the high prices.
