Eddie Hearn has left the door open for a potential unexpected matchup between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua, as the American star seeks a new adversary. Originally scheduled to face Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis in Miami on November 14, Paul’s plans are now uncertain due to serious legal accusations against Davis, prompting Paul’s promotional team, Most Valuable Promotions, to launch an investigation and explore alternative opponents.

In a statement, Most Valuable Promotions stated, “We are actively investigating the recent civil lawsuit filed against Gervonta Davis in Miami-Dade County. Our priority is to gather all relevant information and carefully evaluate our next steps with integrity and consideration for all parties involved. We will refrain from further comments until our review is complete.”

Although a new opponent has not been officially announced, potential contenders such as Ryan Garcia, Edgar Berlanga, and even Anthony Joshua have been mentioned. Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, intriguingly responded to the possibility of a fight with Paul by stating, “Just let me know where.” Hearn recently indicated that Joshua is unlikely to compete again this year, with preparations focused on a potential fight in February.

Joshua has been inactive since his defeat against Daniel Dubois in September 2024, and if he does not fight this year, it would mark the first time in his professional career that he has not competed in a calendar year.
