Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk has stated that Russian fighter jets entering Polish territory will be shot down without hesitation. Tusk emphasized the importance of protecting Poland’s airspace during a recent press conference.

Recent events have seen Russian drones and warplanes breaching the airspace of countries like Poland, Romania, and Estonia. Last Friday, three Russian MiG-31 jets were detected in Estonian airspace for almost 12 minutes before NATO jets were deployed in response.

Vladimir Putin’s decision to send fighter jets into a NATO member’s airspace has been viewed as a significant provocation. The unauthorized entry of MIG-31 jets into the restricted area without communication with local air traffic controllers has raised concerns.

Estonian officials condemned the violation by Putin’s government, labeling it as “unprecedentedly brutal.” NATO confirmed intercepting the Russian aircraft, denouncing the incident as another example of Russia’s reckless behavior.

In light of these escalating tensions, Prime Minister Tusk emphasized the need for full support from Poland’s NATO allies in responding to airspace intrusions. Estonia’s Prime Minister, Kristen Michal, suggested invoking NATO’s Article 4 to address security threats collectively.

Estonia’s Foreign Minister, Margus Tsahkna, disclosed that Russian diplomats were summoned following the recent airspace violation. Tsahkna expressed the urgency for a strong response to Russia’s border provocations through political and economic measures.
