An interactive map has unveiled the extensive impact of the Pizza Hut closures across UK high streets, with one region set to lose seven out of its nine restaurants. The announcement by administrators pinpointed 68 Pizza Hut locations that will cease operations due to the company’s recent downturn in fortunes. As part of a restructuring plan, 11 delivery sites will also shut down, putting 1,210 jobs at risk. This closure initiative will result in only 64 Pizza Hut restaurants remaining operational in the UK.
The interactive map highlights the Greater Manchester area as severely affected, with seven out of nine Pizza Hut establishments in the region marked for closure, leaving only the outlets at the Trafford Centre and in Manchester city center operational. A similar trend is observed in Greater London, where nine Pizza Hut branches in outer boroughs will close, leaving just three in central London and one at the Bluewater shopping center.
In contrast, the East Midlands has been spared from the closure wave, with Pizza Hut restaurants in Lincoln, Nottingham, Mansfield, Thurmaston, and Leicester continuing their operations. The firm managing Pizza Hut’s UK dine-in restaurants under a franchise agreement, DC London Pie, appointed administrators from FTI, a corporate finance firm. Yum! Brands, the American hospitality giant that owns the global Pizza Hut business, has acquired the UK restaurant operation through a pre-pack administration deal, safeguarding 64 sites.
In January 2025, Directional Capital took control of 139 Pizza Hut restaurants, rescuing 3,000 jobs following the collapse of the previous operator, Heart with Smart Limited, which had accumulated debts of nearly £40 million. DC London Pie, established by Directional Capital to oversee Pizza Hut outlets in the UK, traces its roots back to the opening of the first UK Pizza Hut in Islington, London, in 1973. Despite the recent closures, Pizza Hut affirms its commitment to maintain a presence in the UK through a combination of company-owned and franchise restaurants, comprising 351 delivery Huts operating across the UK, Northern Ireland, and Ireland, in addition to the 64 dine-in sites acquired in the latest deal.
