Peter Kay has cautioned fans attending his upcoming Manchester show about potential disruptions due to planned industrial action that could affect a significant portion of the city’s bus services.
The 52-year-old comedian, currently on his Better Late Than Never Again tour since December 2022, took to social media to provide travel advice, stating, “Important travel info for those attending Peter Kay’s show in Manchester on Friday.”
Attendees were urged to allot extra time for travel and verify their bus routes before heading to the AO Arena, where the event commences at 6:30pm with Kay expected to take the stage at 8pm.
Tickets for the Manchester performance, hosted at a venue with a capacity of 23,000 seats, are still available starting at £99.25. Following the Manchester show, Kay is set to perform in Liverpool on Saturday before a hiatus from touring. The tour will then resume in Nottingham on October 5 and 6, subsequently moving to Glasgow on October 22.
Despite his popularity, the comedian has faced backlash from fans regarding copyright enforcement on social media. Complaints have surfaced about clips from his shows being removed, sparking discontent among audiences.
One dissatisfied attendee in Newcastle expressed disappointment, stating that the show did not meet expectations after spending £150 on tickets. The individual’s critical video was reportedly removed due to copyright issues, showcasing frustration over the expenditure.
Similar incidents of removals have been reported by other attendees, with one recalling a post from a previous Manchester show that was removed months later for copyright reasons, despite being a devoted fan of the comedian.
Criticism has also been directed at Kay for what some perceive as subpar performances during his ongoing Better Late Than Never tour, which began in December 2022. Ticket holders have remarked on what they consider recycled jokes and outdated humor, likening the experience to a night at a holiday park.
While some have expressed disappointment with the content and delivery of the shows, others have lauded Kay for his sharp wit and insightful commentary on everyday life, solidifying his status as one of the nation’s top comedians.
