Georgia Hunter Bell revisited her origins to impart her valuable insights to aspiring young athletes. The Olympic bronze medalist in the 1500m event recently secured a silver medal in the 800m world championship in Tokyo, narrowly defeating her training partner Keely Hodgkinson for the second position. Hunter Bell took a break from her hectic schedule to visit the Ealing Southall & Middlesex Athletics Club at their Perivale headquarters, where she developed her skills as a young athlete.
During her visit, the middle-distance runner conducted training sessions for the youth, engaged in photo opportunities, and participated in a Q&A session to share advice with those aiming to achieve similar success. Reflecting on her own experiences, she emphasized the importance of bravery in races, highlighting the impact of taking risks on performance outcomes. Hunter Bell also stressed the significance of discipline in areas such as sleep, hydration, and recovery, underscoring the essential role of rest in athletic preparation.
Following her decision to leave her cybersecurity job, Hunter Bell’s success on the global stage validated her choice. Encouraging the club’s young members, she emphasized the uniqueness of individual paths and the value of perseverance and consistency in reaching the pinnacle of sports. Her visit was warmly received by club members, who appreciated her contribution in line with the legacy of former athlete Dame Kelly Holmes.
Peter Flewitt, the membership manager at ESM, expressed admiration for Hunter Bell’s achievements and the inspiration she provided to young athletes. He highlighted the significance of her visit in instilling belief and motivation among the next generation, underscoring the message that anything is possible with dedication and support.
