A person in their 30s working in the motorsport industry is facing allegations of sexually assaulting one of Michael Schumacher’s nurses at the former Formula One driver’s residence in Gland, Switzerland, as per a report from Swiss newspaper 24heures.
The accusations stem from an incident in 2019 but have only recently been brought to light, with the alleged victim filing a criminal complaint over two years after the purported assault. A trial is reportedly set for this week.
According to the rape indictment, the individual is accused of assaulting the nurse, who was providing care to Schumacher after his severe skiing accident in December 2013, in an upstairs bedroom following a night of heavy drinking. The encounter allegedly took place in the billiard room of the mansion overlooking Lake Geneva.
The accused individual claims to have had a previous romantic encounter with the nurse at a club in Geneva, which the nurse denies, refuting any close relationship between them.
Notably, none of the Schumacher family members are implicated in the allegations, with the indictment asserting their absence during the incident.
Over a decade ago, Schumacher sustained a critical head injury in a skiing mishap, necessitating constant care from a dedicated medical team at his home. After spending 250 days in a medically induced coma, Schumacher was moved back home for ongoing treatment.
While Schumacher’s wife, Corinna, has maintained privacy about his medical condition, she did provide an update in a recent Netflix documentary, expressing the family’s collective longing for his recovery and their efforts to ensure his comfort and well-being.
Schumacher, a seven-time world champion, achieved his first two titles with Benetton in 1994 and 1995 before securing an additional five consecutive championships with Ferrari from 2000 to 2004.
