The mother of missing British sailor Sarm Heslop has issued a heartfelt plea to former President Donald Trump to compel her daughter’s American partner to cooperate with questioning. Brenda Street is seeking closure regarding Sarm’s disappearance from Ryan Bane’s yacht in the US Virgin Islands four years ago. Despite Ryan being the last person to see Sarm, he has chosen not to engage with authorities, citing his right to remain silent under US law.

Brenda, aged 69, expressed her hope that Trump could intervene to ensure a thorough investigation, urging Bane to come forward for questioning and requesting a forensic search of his yacht. She expressed frustration that Bane has evaded formal interrogation while she and her family have been left in limbo. Brenda stated, “I believe Trump is in a position to take significant action. If he could help push for Bane to cooperate, it would be greatly appreciated.”

Ryan’s legal representative has refuted any implication that his client had any involvement in Sarm’s disappearance. Brenda’s appeal to the former president follows her recent assertions in a BBC documentary alleging Ryan’s connection to her daughter’s vanishing.

Former flight attendant Sarm, aged 41, was residing on Ryan’s £500,000 vessel, Siren Song, in the US Virgin Island of St John when she went missing on March 8, 2021. Ryan reported Sarm’s absence to emergency services after awakening to find her gone and the boat’s alarm activated. Despite being advised to contact the US Coast Guard promptly, Ryan delayed doing so for nine hours.

Subsequently, he faced accusations of impeding Coast Guard officials attempting to board the boat. Brenda initially had communication with Ryan, but she claims he later blocked her contact. She believes that if Ryan had nothing to hide, he would have cooperated openly with authorities.

Reflecting on her daughter’s positive qualities, Brenda remembers Sarm as a loving and adventurous individual who brightened every room she entered. She commemorates special occasions like Sarm’s birthday by keeping a card and photo at hand and having a drink in her honor. Brenda emphasized the need for dating platforms to implement background checks to prevent individuals with criminal records from joining, emphasizing that such a measure could have potentially averted the tragic events.

Despite the ongoing anguish, Brenda chooses to focus on the cherished moments shared with her daughter and the joy she brought into their lives. She expressed her continual longing for closure and the desire to uncover the truth behind Sarm’s disappearance.
