Lulu has revealed personal insights about her relationship with David Bowie, emphasizing that their connection went beyond physical intimacy. The renowned singer-songwriter engaged in a romantic liaison with the iconic Starman during the 1970s, originating from a chance encounter at a Sheffield hotel.

Recalling their initial night together, Lulu admitted her recollection was somewhat clouded by alcohol consumption. She openly expressed for the first time that she engaged in a physical relationship with Bowie, highlighting the privacy and significance of their interaction. Despite the haziness of the memory, she chose not to delve into explicit details out of respect for personal boundaries.

Describing the experience as extraordinary, Lulu, known for hits like “To Sir With Love” and “Relight My Fire,” emphasized Bowie’s supportiveness toward her career. Bowie’s influence extended to offering advice on her musical direction, showcasing a deeper level of connection beyond mere physical attraction.

Lulu, who covered Bowie’s track “The Man Who Sold the World,” remembered him as a versatile artist who aimed to transform her appearance. However, an uncomfortable moment arose when Bowie suggested she lose weight, a comment that left a lasting impact on her.

Ultimately, Lulu decided to distance herself from Bowie due to his drug use, leading to a parting of ways during their time in New York. Despite her admiration for Bowie’s talent, she recognized the need to prioritize her well-being and chose to end the relationship.

Following Bowie’s passing in 2016, Lulu reflected on her past relationships, acknowledging challenges in finding love due to previous heartbreaks. Recently, she opened up about her struggles with alcoholism, attributing her drinking habits to coping with life transitions.
