Cabinet members Wes Streeting and Lisa Nandy delivered a dynamic performance of Oasis’ hit song, “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” Accompanied by former shadow minister Jonathan Ashworth, they showcased their singing talents at the renowned Mirror party during the Labour Party Conference. Health Secretary Mr. Streeting and Culture Secretary Ms. Nandy were part of a lineup of politicians who took to the stage for karaoke.

The evening commenced with a moving rendition of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” by Justice minister Alex Davies-Jones, featuring support from Hillsborough campaigners. Margaret Aspinall, a prominent figure whose son James was a victim of the 1989 tragedy, passionately advocated for the swift passing of a new law to prevent cover-ups without dilution.

The event, organized in collaboration with InHouse Communications and beverages provided by Diageo, is a traditional post-keynote speech gathering following the Prime Minister’s address. Mr. Streeting’s performance of “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,” accompanied by Labour MP Oliver Ryan, was met with enthusiasm. Journalists, MPs, and political personnel took their turn on stage, letting loose after a hectic period.

Labour MP Mark Ferguson tackled Pulp’s “Common People,” while Housing Secretary Steve Reed belted out “Sweet Caroline.” MPs Jen Craft and Christian Wakeford entertained the crowd with Wheatus’ “Teenage Dirtbag,” and The Mirror’s Mikey Smith led a spirited rendition of Green Day’s “American Idiot.”

The party at the Liverpool conference center drew a large crowd, with guests reveling into the early hours. The iconic Mirror Chicken, known for tailing politicians over the years, even displayed some dance moves at the event.

The festivities followed Keir Starmer’s absence, as he pledged in his keynote speech to confront Nigel Farage head-on.
