Jade Thirlwall recently shared that she won’t be profiting from one of her new songs. The former X Factor contestant dropped her debut album, “That’s Showbiz Baby!” on Friday, featuring a track that samples a classic tune by Diana Ross and The Supremes. The South Shields-born singer incorporated The Supremes’ 1965 hit “Stop! In The Name of Love” into her song “Before You Break My Heart,” disclosing that she had to forego royalties to use the sample.

In an interview, Jade expressed surprise at the positive reception of “Before You Break My Heart,” which has gained significant online traction. Despite her album currently ranking at No. 3 on the UK midweek charts and speculation of a potential No. 1 position, Jade humbly mentioned Ed Sheeran’s album release as a strong competitor.

As a solo artist, Jade has already achieved two UK Top 40 hits. Her debut single “Angel of My Dreams” peaked at No. 7, while “FUFN” reached No. 25 earlier this year. Notably, “Angel of My Dreams” seemingly addresses Simon Cowell, with whom Little Mix, her former group, signed their initial record deal after winning X Factor in 2011.

While Little Mix members pursue solo careers, Jade has won a BRIT Award for Best Pop Act and is gearing up for a nationwide tour. Her bandmates, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, have also ventured into solo projects, with Perrie slated to release her debut solo album soon. Jesy Nelson, who departed from the group in 2020, has not disclosed any album plans but did release a single featuring Nicki Minaj called “Boyz.”

Perrie is also set to appear in an upcoming BBC documentary titled “Girlbands Forever,” exploring the dynamics of girl groups like Little Mix.
