IMPOSE TOI secured his first Grade 1 victory in the Howden Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot, solidifying his position at the top of the stayers’ division. Trained by Nicky Henderson, the seven-year-old triumphed over Strong Leader, showcasing his improvement since winning the Grade Two Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury last month.

Despite facing Strong Leader on less favorable terms, Impose Toi extended his lead to a length and a quarter under jockey Nico de Boinville. The third-place finish went to Honesty Policy, the 11-4 favorite also owned by JP McManus.

Following the win, Ladbrokes adjusted Impose Toi’s odds to 5-1 for the Stayers’ Hurdle at Cheltenham in March. Henderson expressed satisfaction with the performance, highlighting the horse’s flawless execution and progress. McManus, pleased with the victory, looked ahead to Fact To File’s challenge in the upcoming King George VI Chase at Kempton Park on Boxing Day.

Looking to break a longstanding dry spell in the King George, McManus expressed his desire for victory, with all indications pointing towards a competitive race at Kempton. The successful outing at Ascot marked a positive start to the festive season for McManus, setting the stage for an exciting pursuit of further triumphs in the racing calendar.
