Authorities searching for ex-soldier Travis Decker, who killed his own daughters, have reported a somber finding. Law enforcement officials announced the discovery of remains believed to be those of Decker, who was sought for the deaths of his three daughters. The remains were located in the Washington State mountains, with crime scene response teams currently processing the area.

Although a positive identification is pending, initial assessments indicate that the remains likely belong to Travis Decker, according to a statement from the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office. Decker had been on the run since June 2, when his truck and the bodies of his daughters Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia were found at a campground near Leavenworth.

Three days before the tragic discovery, Decker failed to return with his daughters to their mother’s residence in Wenatchee after a scheduled visit. He served as an infantryman in the Army from March 2013 to July 2021, with prior deployment to Afghanistan in 2014 and training in various skills, including navigation and survival.

US Marshals had offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to Decker’s apprehension. His ex-wife, Whitney Decker, had petitioned in September regarding his deteriorating mental health and unstable behavior. An autopsy revealed that the girls died from suffocation, having been restrained with zip ties and suffocated with plastic bags.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office is processing the scene with the assistance of a crime scene response team for DNA analysis. The investigation is ongoing, and the Decker family is receiving support and updates while urged for privacy and respect. Descriptions of Travis Decker include being between 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins, white, and last seen wearing a cream-colored t-shirt, black shorts, a black mesh cap, and black gauged earrings. He faced charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping.
