Two men and a woman were apprehended in Essex on suspicion of espionage activities linked to Russia, according to the Metropolitan Police. The individuals, a 41-year-old man, a 46-year-old man, and a 35-year-old woman, were detained at separate locations in Grays for allegedly aiding a foreign intelligence service. Commander Dominic Murphy of the Counter Terrorism Command stated that there is a growing trend of individuals acting as ‘proxies’ for foreign intelligence agencies, emphasizing the risks and legal consequences associated with such actions. The arrests are unrelated to a previous case involving two British men recruited by the Wagner Group for criminal activities. The trio has been released on bail as the investigation progresses, with Scotland Yard declining to disclose their nationalities.
