As the new season of Strictly Come Dancing kicks off tonight, we shine the spotlight on one of the contenders aiming to dazzle on the dance floor: drag artist La Voix.
The 45-year-old performer has eagerly awaited the opportunity to be part of the iconic show, referring to it as a “national institution” for which she is thrilled to be a part. Having gained fame on Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK last year, La Voix expressed her excitement for the new challenge and wished luck to her dance partner, hoping they can help transform her from La Voix to La Danse.
While La Voix has been immersed in rehearsals alongside 14 other celebrities vying for the glitterball trophy, she also found herself in a silent rift with Tayce, the winner of last year’s Strictly Christmas special. Despite expectations for Tayce to join the main series, La Voix was chosen instead, leading to a lack of communication between the two.
In an interview ahead of the show’s premiere, La Voix admitted to not having interacted with Tayce but expressed admiration for her past success on the show. Meanwhile, Tayce, who achieved high scores with her Cha-Cha-Cha routine in the festive special, hinted at her disappointment through a social media post, suggesting she was overlooked for being “too much.”
Insiders revealed that Strictly producers have been impressed by Tayce and are considering inviting her to join the main show later this year. La Voix, also known as Christopher Dennis, has a background in drama and has made significant strides in the drag scene, including competing in Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK.
Although details about La Voix’s personal life are scarce, she credits her parents’ acceptance of her sexuality for instilling confidence in her. For more entertainment news and updates, follow Mirror Celebs on various social media platforms.
