A new progressive party spearheaded by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana faced turmoil today regarding the rollout of a membership platform. The group, initially named ‘Your Party’ when established in the summer, saw co-founder Ms. Sultana alleging exclusion from official accounts and facing what she described as a “sexist boys’ club.”

Former Labour leader Mr. Corbyn advised supporters of ‘Your Party’ to halt direct debits, citing an unauthorized email sent to backers. The email prompted recipients to join as regular members at £55 annually or £5 monthly, with a concessionary rate of £25 per year.

Earlier, ex-Labour MP Ms. Sultana had been encouraging sign-ups on social media, claiming 20,000 individuals had already joined. She dismissed claims of a fake link made by “right-wing bad faith actors.”

In an urgent message, Mr. Corbyn cautioned against an unauthorized email circulating among ‘Your Party’ supporters, directing them to ignore it and cancel any direct debits set up. He emphasized the forthcoming opportunity to convert support into membership to shape the party’s future.

Independent MPs in the Commons, including Shockat Adam, Iqbal Mohamed, Adnan Hussain, and Ayoub Khan, signed a letter, but Ms. Sultana’s absence raised eyebrows. She later disclosed being sidelined from official accounts and stressed the importance of democratic processes within the party.

Subsequently, ‘Your Party’ reported itself to the Information Commissioner’s Office after the unauthorized email incident, vowing full cooperation. A Labour source quipped about internal struggles within the party, foreseeing chaos before its launch.

Green Party leader Zack Polanski expressed openness to dialogue with Corbyn and Sultana but highlighted his commitment to bolstering the Green Party’s growth and influence.
