Chris Martin, fresh off his 10-night stint with Coldplay at Wembley, surprised attendees with a secret performance the very next night. Reports suggest he was handsomely compensated for the private show, with the earnings earmarked for charitable causes.
Following his massive Wembley shows, the 48-year-old singer entertained a much smaller crowd of around 70 guests at an intimate event hosted by Miel de Botton at her lavish Hampshire residence. During the gathering, Chris humorously compared the audience size to Wembley’s restroom occupancy, joking about his newfound “unemployment” post-stadium shows.
Accompanied by a longtime bass guitarist and three female backing vocalists, Chris treated the guests to a 90-minute set featuring hits like Yellow, Paradise, and Viva La Vida. The evening, which required attendees to surrender their phones, also featured a special duet between Chris and Miel on Coldplay’s Magic in French.
The event, focused on supporting various charities, emphasized donations over gifts, showcasing the philanthropic spirit of both Chris and Miel. Coldplay’s successful Music of the Spheres world tour, marked by record-breaking attendance figures and critical acclaim, is set to resume in 2027, with a commitment to eco-friendly practices and renewable energy sources.
Notably, 10% of Coldplay’s UK tour proceeds will be contributed to the Music Venue Trust, underscoring the band’s dedication to supporting grassroots music venues and emerging artists.
