A young girl, aged nine, sustained three gunshot wounds in what authorities have labeled a racially motivated assault. The incident left her fearful of venturing outside her residence. In Brentry, Bristol, the community has united in support of the affected family, as police pursue two suspects, one being a white male believed to be between 17 and 18 years old.

The girl was targeted with an airgun around 1:30 pm on September 2, causing distress in the quiet neighborhood of northern Bristol. Residents praised the family, describing them as exceptional neighbors who contribute positively to the community. The police are actively searching for the suspect, described as a white male approximately 17-18 years old, standing about 5 feet 11 inches tall with dark blonde hair and a slender face. Following the shooting, a racially charged comment was reportedly made, prompting Avon and Somerset Police to offer support after denouncing the incident as deeply concerning.

A concerned neighbor expressed disappointment in the lack of evidence captured on their camera due to obstructing foliage, emphasizing the appalling nature of the attack on the family and the broader community. The neighbor condemned racism and emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards it, highlighting the installation of security measures such as the RING doorbell for enhanced safety. The incident has left the neighborhood devastated and determined to stand against such acts.

Inspector Keith Smith of Avon and Somerset Police acknowledged the gravity of the situation, noting the impact on both the victim and the community at large. The police are actively investigating the incident, reassuring residents through increased patrols. They believe the incident to be isolated and urge anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Individuals who witnessed the assault or possess information that could aid the investigation are urged to contact the police on 101. The incident, which involved the shooting of a nine-year-old girl in Brentry, Bristol, is being treated as a racially aggravated assault. Descriptions of the offender, the sequence of events, and the victim’s condition have been detailed to aid in the investigation. Authorities have initiated inquiries and are seeking cooperation from the public to ensure justice is served.
