Boxing legend Ricky Hatton was discovered deceased by hanging, according to an inquest report released today. Hatton, a former world champion in two weight classes, passed away at his residence in Manchester last month, as confirmed by his manager and close associate, Paul Speak. The funeral procession, which took place last week, drew crowds of fans along the city streets before a memorial service at Manchester Cathedral.

Earlier today, an inquest was initiated into Hatton’s death, with coroner Alison Mutch revealing that he was found unresponsive in his bedroom by Mr. Speak. Hatton, who lived alone, was last seen by his family on September 12, appearing well. However, he failed to attend a scheduled event the next day, leading to the discovery of his unresponsive state by Mr. Speak on September 14.

Although a post-mortem examination was conducted, the complete results are pending. The preliminary cause of death was determined to be hanging, with a full inquest scheduled for March 20. Mr. Speak expressed his belief that Hatton did not have suicidal intentions, emphasizing that he had a promising future ahead.

Despite his struggles with mental health and addiction in the past, Hatton seemed to be in a positive state before his passing. His final social media post showcased his dedication to fitness for an upcoming boxing return. His family described him as more than a champion, highlighting his loving nature and positive impact on those around him.

The boxing community, including figures like Fury, Bellew, and Bruno, gathered to pay their respects at Hatton’s memorial service. Following heartfelt eulogies from his children, the commemorative march proceeded to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, symbolizing Hatton’s connection to the city.

Hatton’s remarkable career, marked by memorable fights against boxing greats like Mayweather and Pacquiao, endeared him to fans worldwide. Despite facing setbacks in his later career, Hatton remained dedicated to mental health advocacy and charitable work, demonstrating his commitment to making a difference.

In a poignant tribute after his passing, Hatton’s family honored his legacy as a father, grandfather, and friend to many. His impact on the boxing world and beyond was evident in the outpouring of support and admiration from the community.
