SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that restricts the resale of event tickets above face value. According to the province’s consumer protection website, the latest fines imposed on the ticket resale platform amount to a total of $22,500.
One of the fines, totaling $15,000, was issued for reportedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating its sale at a price exceeding the resale price limit. The second fine, valued at $7,500, was imposed for allegedly failing to disclose the complete ticket price when a seat was purchased from an original seller.
Both the province and SeatGeek Canada have not yet provided details regarding the specific events that led to the fines or whether the company intends to challenge the penalties. This recent enforcement action follows a previous fine of $25,000 imposed on the company in August for similar violations.
