Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has returned to the lineup after being cleared from the seven-day injured list. He is set to play in the upcoming game against the New York Yankees. Guerrero sustained an injury during a game against the Yankees in Toronto last week following a collision with rookie shortstop George Lombard Jr. at third base. Despite the incident, Guerrero managed to score a crucial run before being forced to leave the game.
Having successfully completed his concussion protocols, Guerrero rejoined the team on Friday. He demonstrated his readiness by participating in a minor league rehab game for single-A Dunedin, where he doubled and took batting practice. Following his return, Guerrero was placed second in the batting lineup for the game against the Yankees, following the Blue Jays’ loss in the series opener.
In a corresponding roster move, the Blue Jays optioned Davis Schneider to triple-A Buffalo. Guerrero, who boasts a .263 batting average with seven home runs and 46 RBIs, was in good form before his injury, batting .310 in his last seven games.
