Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently conducting an investigation into a fatality that occurred on Eelūnaapēewi Lahkēewiit, also known as the Delaware Nation at Moraviantown, located northeast of Chatham-Kent. According to Middlesex County OPP, they were informed shortly before midnight on July 25 about an individual who had been transported to the hospital with critical injuries, as stated in a press release issued by OPP on Thursday. Tragically, the individual was later declared deceased.
Authorities suspect that a 33-year-old resident of Chatham may have sustained injuries in an incident along River Line within Eelūnaapēewi Lahkēewiit. The circumstances surrounding the fatal injuries are currently being investigated by the police. They are urging anyone in possession of relevant information to come forward. Additionally, individuals who were present in the River Line area on the evening of July 25 are encouraged to review any surveillance or dashcam footage they may have and reach out to law enforcement if they have details that could assist in the investigation.
