Macklemore’s recent announcement of a tour aimed at supporting Palestinians saw all three shows quickly selling out. Just a week after revealing the October tour dates in Dublin, Paris, and London as part of the “Free Palestine tour,” the four-time Grammy winner shared this news.

The artist has not disclosed who will be joining him on stage for these shows, but initial posts suggest that the performances will include the rapper “and friends,” with more details on the lineup to be announced soon.

The European tour was announced shortly after Macklemore was removed as the opening act for Ed Sheeran’s U.S. tour. Expressing his gratitude, Macklemore shared his amazement at the rapid support received for the shows, emphasizing the power of musicians coming together in solidarity to raise funds for Palestine.

While there is no confirmation of Canadian shows yet, Live Nation’s press release states that the proceeds from the performances will benefit various Palestinian aid organizations, including Gaza Soup Kitchen, Palestinian Youth Movement, Jewish Voice for Peace, and UNRWA USA.

The decision to drop Macklemore from Sheeran’s tour came after threats from owners of American venues to cancel Sheeran’s shows if the rapper remained as the opening act, as reported by the Messina Touring Group. Sheeran later addressed the situation, mentioning individuals like Robert Kraft, chairman and CEO of The Kraft Group, who were involved in the decision-making process.

Macklemore’s longstanding pro-Palestinian stance has been evident in his public statements and performances over the years. Following the controversy, all other openers, including Sheeran’s backing band, withdrew from the tour. Sheeran himself clarified his position at a show in Philadelphia, stating that he never intended to be an activist musician.

Ultimately, the shows at Gillette Stadium were canceled due to adverse weather conditions, marking a tumultuous turn of events surrounding the tour.
