The Canadian women’s basketball team concluded the group stage of the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament with a 70-64 victory over Mexico, the tournament host, in Guadalajara on Thursday evening.
Yvonne Ejim led Canada with 19 points, contributing to their 3-0 record, while Syla Swords added 17 points to the scoreboard. Mariana Valenzuela scored 17 points for Mexico.
Canada is now set to face New Zealand in the semifinals on Saturday, with the host team scheduled to play against Brazil. The tournament’s final match is scheduled for Sunday.
The eventual tournament winner will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
