Ariana Grande has once again criticized the Trump administration for featuring her music in a TikTok post. The Team Trump account used Grande’s song “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)” in a video showing President Trump walking up to a podium, with text partially quoting Grande’s 2024 track.
In response to the post, Grande commented, “Never use my music again. Also your truth is false.” The sound on the post has been disabled, and Grande’s comment appears to have been removed, although screenshots of it have been reposted by viewers.
This incident follows Grande’s previous objection in mid-June when the administration used her song “Bye” in a TikTok video related to immigration policy. Many artists, including Taylor Swift and ABBA, have also expressed disapproval of the Trump team using their music.
Despite the option for political campaigns to obtain licenses to use music legally, individual artists have the right to object to their music being used for specific reasons. Several artists, like Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny, have taken steps to have their music removed from Team Trump’s social media posts to avoid association with the administration.
