Kristen Campbell, the goaltender for the Vancouver Goldeneyes, has always looked up to her mother, Janet Campbell. Like many parents of hockey players, Janet devoted countless hours to supporting her children’s hockey endeavors despite battling multiple sclerosis since being diagnosed with the disease in 1999 when Kristen was around two years old.

Kristen admires her mother’s resilience in facing the challenges of MS while prioritizing her family, attending all of Kristen’s hockey practices, games, and tournaments. Kristen describes her mom as her best friend and biggest role model in life.

To raise awareness and support for individuals living with MS, Kristen is sharing her family’s story as part of A&W’s annual Burgers to Beat MS campaign. On August 20, A&W will donate $2 from every Teen Burger sold nationwide to MS Canada for treatment research and support for those affected by the disease.

With her mother being one of 90,000 Canadians living with MS, Kristen emphasizes the personal significance of supporting this cause and aims to contribute to raising awareness and funding for treatments and a potential cure.

Despite experiencing symptoms such as head pain, leg stiffness, and sensitivity to temperature changes, Janet Campbell has managed to lead a fulfilling life, inspiring Kristen with her strength and perseverance. Kristen attributes many of her own qualities, including a strong work ethic, to her mother’s influence.

Kristen Campbell, a key player for the Goldeneyes, was part of the Canadian team that won gold at the 2022 Olympics and received recognition as the top goaltender in the PWHL’s 2024 season. After joining the Goldeneyes for the 2025-26 season and achieving impressive statistics, Kristen looks forward to further improving the team’s performance and engaging with passionate fans.

Following a period of rest and coaching activities after Vancouver’s playoff miss, Kristen is preparing mentally and physically for the upcoming season, focusing on intentional training and mental preparation. She looks forward to the league’s expansion and the evolving landscape of women’s hockey, expressing excitement for the growth and development of the sport and the PWHL.

The upcoming season, set to start in November, will see new teams in San Jose, Las Vegas, Detroit, and Hamilton, marking significant growth for the league since Kristen’s debut in 2024. Kristen acknowledges the league’s progress, from its humble beginnings to playing in NHL venues and attracting dedicated fans, expressing optimism for the continued expansion and success of women’s hockey.

Kristen Campbell’s dedication to her sport and her advocacy for MS awareness reflect her commitment to excellence both on and off the ice.
