A man who falsely claimed his baby son was kidnapped has admitted to the child’s murder. Riverside County officials disclosed that Jake Haro pleaded guilty to three charges, including murder, filing a fake police report, and endangering a child.
The confession comes following the disappearance of seven-month-old Emmanuel, as authorities intensify efforts to locate his body. Rebecca, Emmanuel’s mother, was also taken into custody on suspicion of murder and false reporting but has not yet entered a plea.
On August 14, Rebecca reported the alleged abduction of her son from a parking lot near a sports store in Yucaipa, California. She initially stated that she was approached by someone, causing her to lose consciousness and discover her son missing upon waking up.
However, inconsistencies in Rebecca’s narrative raised doubts, leading investigators to question the validity of her account. Authorities eventually dismissed the kidnapping claim, suspecting Emmanuel’s demise and launching a search for his remains, resulting in the arrest of both parents on murder charges.
Jake was briefly released from jail to aid in the search operation, with officials indicating that Emmanuel likely died before the false kidnapping report was made. The last confirmed sighting of the infant was on August 5.
