A former participant of the reality show “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” has initiated legal proceedings following an unfortunate incident during the program.
Renowned supermodel Janice Dickinson is taking legal action against ITV executives over a serious fall that occurred while filming the South African version of the show in 2023.
At 70 years old, Dickinson had to leave the show after tripping over a cable in Kruger National Park, resulting in a fall that left her with head injuries, a black eye, and concerns of a skull fracture. Despite medical confirmation of no fractures, she had to withdraw from the show hosted by Ant & Dec and has now filed a personal injury lawsuit against ITV at the High Court.
Official documents filed on September 19 reveal the lawsuit as Dickinson v ITV Studios Limited, with the specific damages sought undisclosed but potentially amounting to a significant sum.
Following the accident, Dickinson recounted the emotional moment she reunited with her husband, Robert Gerner, describing his reaction to her injuries and the subsequent medical treatments she underwent in Los Angeles, fully covered by ITV.
Expressing her desire to rejoin the show, Dickinson acknowledged the decision to keep her out for safety reasons, admitting the traumatic impact the incident had on her and others in the campsite.
A prominent figure in the 1970s and 1980s and a former judge on “America’s Next Top Model,” Dickinson expressed deep disappointment at having to exit the competition prematurely, emphasizing her determination to win and the intense emotional turmoil she experienced post-fall.
While Dickinson’s agent and an ITV representative declined to provide any comments on the matter, the legal process continues as Dickinson seeks recompense for the repercussions of the accident.
