A man has tragically passed away in the hospital following a disturbance reported in a village during the early hours, prompting a murder investigation. South Wales Police disclosed that three men in their twenties were injured and hospitalized in Rhydyfelin just before 1 am. Regrettably, one of the men has succumbed to his injuries, while the other two are still receiving medical care.

In connection with the incident, a 30-year-old man from Rhydyfelin has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. Likewise, a 22-year-old man from Tonteg and a 20-year-old woman from Penygraig have also been arrested on suspicion of murder and wounding with intent, respectively. All three individuals are currently in police custody as investigations progress.

Authorities have urged anyone with relevant information to contact them via the hotline number 101. Meanwhile, local MP Alex Davies Jones expressed awareness and concern over the serious incident in Rhydyfelin, emphasizing the importance of supporting each other during challenging times and avoiding the spread of unverified information that could exacerbate distress.

Detective Superintendent Paul Raikes reassured the community of the swift investigative efforts being undertaken and mentioned an increased police presence in the vicinity, with a cordon established on Masefield Way. The police received a disturbance report on Poets Close, Rhydyfelin, leading to the hospitalization of the three injured men, one of whom has tragically passed away, while the other two remain under medical care.

As investigations continue, the community is urged to remain vigilant, and updates will be shared promptly as the situation evolves.
