BT Broadband customers in the UK are set to receive a pleasant surprise as BT Mobile is re-entering the market after ceasing new customer registrations in 2023. Previously, BT had favored its EE network brand, but now there is a notable shift in strategy. BT has announced that existing broadband subscribers will soon have access to BT-branded SIM deals once again.

While specific details are yet to be disclosed, this move indicates BT’s commitment to enhancing the visibility of its well-established brand, which had taken a backseat to EE in recent years. CEO Allison Kirkby, who assumed leadership in 2024, is determined to revitalize BT’s presence among UK households to prevent the brand from fading into obscurity.

Kirkby emphasized the company’s recent network investments and expressed the need to further invest in their brands, products, and services during an event at Wembley. With this relaunch, BT will compete directly with major providers like Vodafone and O2, as well as budget-friendly networks such as Giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, and SMARTY.

Although pricing details are pending, BT plans to offer bundled packages that include broadband, landline, and mobile SIM services, consolidating them into a single monthly bill. Industry analyst Paolo Pescatore sees this move as an effort to stay relevant in a highly competitive telecom market where connectivity goes beyond mere coverage to encompass resilience, scale, and trust.

Pescatore emphasized the importance of execution, stating that while ambition is crucial, the network’s ability to meet real-world demands at scale will determine its success in the market. Additionally, BT announced its partnership as the official telecoms provider for the UEFA Euro 2028 tournament, which will be held across Britain and Ireland.

Pescatore highlighted the significance of this deal in reconnecting with users, households, and businesses, underscoring the importance of sports in uniting communities and fostering emotional connections that few other platforms can match.
