The Conservative Party faced criticism for proposing to deport 150,000 individuals annually, reminiscent of Donald Trump’s immigration tactics. Kemi Badenoch, the party’s leader, suggested that this approach would align with the US President’s preferences. However, the plan lacked specifics, and when questioned on deportation locations, Badenoch dismissed the inquiry as irrelevant.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood condemned the Tory proposal, labeling it as lacking credibility. She highlighted the Conservatives’ historical neglect of immigration reform during their time in power. Mahmood also criticized the party’s intention to withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights, emphasizing the potential repercussions on international agreements.

Badenoch unveiled the deportation strategy over the weekend, aiming to remove foreigners without legal permission, supported by a new Removals Force modeled after ICE operations in the US. When pressed for deportation destinations, Badenoch emphasized the necessity for individuals to return to their home countries or safe third-party nations.

Amidst backlash, Badenoch expressed confidence that her plan would resonate with the UK populace, even suggesting that President Trump might endorse it. The Tory leader emphasized the importance of prioritizing the well-being of domestic residents and defending the need for a comprehensive approach to immigration challenges.
